Can anyone help. I am restoring my TL125K and need the following parts: Starter gear 23520-107-000, Idler Gear 23530-107-000, Cam Chain 14401-107-003, Gasket 11191-107-000. I purchased most of these from dave silver but was sent parts from the S Model. I believe CB125 J parts will do. Secondhand would be ok. At present Silver want silly Honda prices as they do not have on the shelf.

I have restored a 1976 'S' model (UK model) to concours condition, awarded 2nd place in 1997 VJMC concours event. My bike was restored from a field bike which was purchased for £300, and after 5 years of searching for those elusive parts the bike is now finished, which is totally standard, except for Renthal handlebars and polished stainless steel spokes on both wheels.Total rebuild cost approx £2800 plus approx 300 hours labour. The engine was rebuilt to original honda spec with honda parts, current mileage is 6 miles.
Any owners wanting info on this bike can contact Ed via e-mail. Click here for a photo of Ed's TL.

Hello fellow TL125 jockies. I have recently swapped a Suzuki RM80 that I did up for a 1975 TL125. It's very much like the one I rode back in 1977 when I was a teenager. I'm getting back into the trials riding as my mentor/neighbor next door was the 1994 Canadian trials champ and gives FREE lessons.
The bike needs a few parts which would totally restore it. If anyone can help, please feel free to contact me. The TL needs both plastic side covers and decals,a left front fender strut, tool kit?,handlebars.
The parts on the bike are serviceable now but it would be nice to restore. Regards. rickc@netidea.com (250) 365-8043.

Stock 1974-TL125 located in Toronto, Canada. This bike has used by me and others for vintage trials for a number of years. Mostly stock with plans to repair worn shift linkages and bent brake levers. It always starts, always runs and is great fun to ride.

Hello! I've had my '74 TL 125 for over 16 years. She's in very rough condition, but she can still be ridden. Still original bore/piston, but has been re-ringed. I used to ride it hard (i.e. abuse the crud out of it!)when it was running well, in fact, I've broken the frame twice!

Hi Guys, I own an early TL converted from battery to ditect lighting and ignition a LONG TOME ago! To ride trials both on and off road such as the EXETER & LANDS END trials (UK).Both my daughter and son learned to ride using it. Now come the time ro rebuild ssssssoooooo I am hoping that in the weeks/months to come I can pick some of the brains out there to assist me in spares hunting etc.
As a sampler if you guys should need any help I do have a Gen workshop manual I'll copy for the postage and some tips --Like if it starts to jump out of gear, the bush in the crankcase can be exchanged fro a caged roller bearing that was originally used on a BSA gear box. It is a damned sight quicker and cheaper than welding, grinding etc or a replacement case. Inc strip down you can do it in a couple o days.

I enclose some photographs of my Honda TL 125 which I thought you may be interested in displaying on your great website. My father bought the bike in June 1976, from new and cost £425 on the road, and tax was only £8! It's done 2,000 miles. The bike was running on a local farm and spent most of its time in fields and rivers surrounding the farm. The bike was only on the road for a year and in 1977 it was never used afterwards for 23 years, where it sat in a shed until I was old enough to ride it. I rode the bike on the very same farm grounds as my father had previously, from when I was 14. The bike ran straight away, and I had no problems with it until a few years later when the kickstart idler gears packed up. Now I'm 19, and have fully restored the engine.I hope the pictures and information are of use to your website. If you require any further information on the bike, and its histoy please contact me on this email.Click here for a photo of Rhys' TL.

I just purchased a tl125k2,1973 model from a friend. The bike was in storage for about 15 years. I was not expecting very much for the 200.00 asking price. When he pulled off the tarp, all I could do was stare. Needless to say I loaded the bike and hurried home. The slide in the carb was stuck, after a complete overhaul it works fine. The old fuel in the tank was now varnish and it too cleaned up good. I put a few shots of oil in the cylinder, screwed in the plug,in five kicks she fired up. The bike is in real good condition, and what a joy to ride. My 10 yr. old daughter just started racing motocross on a kawasaki kx60, now i can chase her around on state land near our house.

I bought my 1976 TL125s new, it cost£371.22 on the road.I did about 150 miles on it then used it for club trials around East Yorkshire for about 2 years adding about another 200 miles to the clock it then stood in my shed until last year when I thought I would restore it. It is complete except for the front mudguard and the chainguard which were lost when I moved house.I managed to find a genuine Honda exhaust system for it (brand new) I couldn`t believe my luck, plus quite a few other new bits.I hope to have it finished in the near future and am looking forwards to riding it again.I could also do with a good back mudguard, any ideas?

My TL is a 1976 125S model purchased as a dismantaled basket case! The chassis was in a bad way after spending years in a farm-yard.The engine had been removed for repair after after dropping the exhaust valve. To get it looking like the photogragh has taken almost a year. It has been prepared with a specification similar to one of Sammy Miller's trial specials. Engine mods. include a 150cc Miller big bore conversion and chrome/alloy exhaust system from Sammy's. Click here for a photo of Tony's TL.

I bought my Honda TL 125 for $125.00 from a man who had it sitting for over 10 to 15 years. I need extensive work done to the motor and I still dont even know if the person can get it running. So he lent me his TL 125 Which is the same. Mine is red with silver with no lighting. If you know where I can get parts for my TL can you E-Mail me. I love this bike I will never let it go. For only my first bike it has plenty power and it is a very well mannared machine. Let me just say I love My Honda TL 125.

I own a 74 TL125 which I purchased in the late summer of 99. It is my first off-road bike, and has quickly become my favorite ride, my old BMW R100 and Honda GB500 have been collecting dust and I take every chance I get to practice on the TL. I've started riding in the AHRMA and STRA events, and totally enjoy it, trying to improve skills and seeing other cool bikes and riders. Thankfully, my bike was in ready-to-ride condition (although a little homely), just today I mounted a new set of IRC tires since the old ones were quite crummy and stiff. I also sprung for the Sammy Miller front fender mount and new generic plastic fenders (all from B&J) since mine were rat-bike quality. I think it had a CL metal fender, which grinded annoyingly against the tires and collected dents from tree mishaps. Other than that and oil change and spark plugs it has needed nothing (yet...).
I'm definately not a mechanic, though learning how to maintain bikes is another source of enjoyment I've discovered. Having such a simple machine that can be tinkered with and understood is one of the attractions of the TL to me.
See you on the loop!

This is my 1976 TL 125 which I partly restored a few years ago. The bike is mostly as standard and has been laid up for the past couple of years. With inspiration from this site I have now decided to make the bike useable..!!! When I bought the bike it had the typical Honda camshaft "death rattle" . I had read about the modification of running the cam in inserted bushes, and had this work done by an engineering company, however I think I still have a problem in this area as the bike runs very hot and the cam seems to be running "dry" in the bushes...( any help or suggestions here please ). I also think the bike needs new rear shocks as they have no damping at all and the front forks seem very soft ( more suggestions please...can anyone recommend any replacement shocks or possible cures ? ) The only other item required is a replacement Front Fender as the original is cracked. If I can solve these few problems, ( possibly with your help..!! ) I hope to use the bike this summer. I have had several offers for the bike, but I can't part with it ,as it's a little gem with a character all of its own...which I'm sure I will appreciate even more when I can actually get out and ride it..!! I am based in the U.K. and would appreciate any help or suggestions.
Martin's TL and cylinder head with new bushings (ed. note: this is a '76 TL125s with a two piece head. The job is much more complicated on the earlier models).

Happy to discover there are others who have alos discovered what a "Great " bike the TL 125 is.Bought mine (1974)in 1987 off my buddies wife.It has been painted about 4 different times and I picked up a kit off Poweroll in 95 on our way down to Disneyland and basically rebuilt what had to be done. Not too worried about getting it back to showroom however, would like to improve it but like to ride it not polish it.Also have a 1976 TL 250 which are also hard to find up here in Alberta. My son like's the 125 so I don't get as much time on it as I used to. I find that whether you have a beginner or an experienced rider they all end up with a smile, and that's what biking is about!!

I had a 1974 TL-125 from near new when I was a kid, which I rode for years, both competitively and just for fun. I got out of trials just before the monoshock era, but years later discovered vintage trials with a 76 TL-250 (which hauls my somewhat oversize frame a little better!) that I still regularly compete with. It's great to see so many TL-125's still in regular use, and in demand after all these years. I have a few pics of these bikes, plus my current Ariel HT5 replica trials project at http://photos.yahoo.com/arielht5.

I always wanted a TL125 and finally located one about 3 years ago. It is the perfect suburbs dirt bike. Ouiet enough with the stock exhaust that it won't bother the neighbors. I used to ride trials on a Cota 30 years ago and then got into enduro and never had the time to do both. Now that I'm older (and wiser?) the appeal to go fast (and crash hard) has wained and vintage trials has more appeal. My 75, TL has a 145cc kit and Betor shocks but otherwise is pretty much stock. The carb is a little on the rich side but with spec. timing and the idle set up a bit it seldom sputters off idle. It gives me no end of pleasure to clean sections with my old "underpowered" iron that intermediate riders are struggling with on modern bikes.

Well after many years away from off road motorcycles, I've just bought 2 TL 125's the firs one is a 76 124cc and the second is an earlier 122 but very trick, with the lower frame tubes cut away and an Aluminium Bash blate in place it also has a lightweight rear hub and a tank seat unit that resembles the early Montesa "Cota" combination. Im looking forward to restoring them both and glad I've found this BLOODY MARVELOUS SITE, WELL DONE!

I have just purchased TL 125 with 1974 Chassis 1975 Motor. A guy had it in bits in garage as restore project but ran out of time/money purchased early TY 250 in good cond that was running. Have had to source similar shocks from wreckers these are approx 20 ml over length probably Honda XLs. Guards exhaust seat are coming from Sammy Miller U.K. Sprockets, Clutch Throttle cables are available from Cyclespot Honda here in Auckland, New Zealand. Most TL's in New Zealand were sold originally in Rural areas to be used by Farmers to get around fields etc. Will send photo later. Have found this site really good plus contributors have been helpfull with spec enquiries. Thanks. Will ride the bike later this month in Classic Twin Shock Trial. Father also rides Tiger Cub in same events.

I own a TL125 k2 1975. I got the bike about 18 years ago. For the last 5 years the bike has been lying in parts following a top end engine failure. I recently decided to restore the bike which was/is in pretty poor codition. I have found that most parts are available but as funds are tight I am trying to find cheaper second hand parts(not so easy). The bike has never been used on the road and I am trying to decide whether or not to have it registered. I will send a photo of my bike once I have it finished. I would like to hear from any other TL owners or info about parts. Niall, Scotland

I am the fortunate owner of two TL 125S'. One has been restored to original condition following use of it since I was eleven. It was originally a basket case. Initially I had all all bodywork painted in a Rover blue just to get it coated, and then I built it up and ran it around a tarmaced local authority roads depot. It has now been lovingly restored (white and red scheme), MOT'd and taxed, and when I'm not riding my VTR Firestorm, the TL comes out for a gentle plod along. The other running TL I have is in pretty good condition (silver and red scheme), but has no MOT yet. Its running an XL 185 barrel and head on the original TL 125 bottom end. This conversion doesn't have give it punch. When I get time, I intend to restore this one too.

But I must say my 1976 TL-125 is the best bike I have ever owned! I bored and stroked it to 175, intalled Fox gas shocks and all the Renthal and Miller aloy goodies. Two ply s.and a honda CR replica plastic tank. I have been riding it since 1976 and still trail ride it. Every once in a while take it to a vintage meet.

Hello, My name is Keith Schumacher and I live in Reno NV. I have a '76 TL 125 which was purchased new. After years of riding (and abuse) my TL was put to rest in my back pasture with minor repairs needed. During the great flood of '97 it was knocked over and spent about a week underwater. My mechanic from work came by my house one day, saw it and asked if it ran, I just laughed. He said he likes to tinker on things and said he would rebuild it for me, which brings me to this website. The work has just begun and thank god for this site. I thought it would be impossible to find parts much less anybody who knew what one was.

I've owned my TL125 for 20 years and I still love it. It has been hands down the most dependable bike I've ever owned. Hard to judge miles but at 700-1000 per year must have close to 20K on it. One set of rings, stock piston and bore and it is not ridden easy. Thanks for the attention to TL's.

I have had my TL125k2 since 1978. It had been used pretty harshly for its first 18 months! In the intervening 22 yers it's been trialled (occasionally!), trail ridden, used for commuting, use to teach my cildren to ride, and stored. Currently not quite original (Hammerite silver frame, SM exhaust), it will start after two kicks even if it's beeu out of use for months - what a bike!.

Hello all. I am a fellow TL125 owner. I live in So. Cal. USA. I aquired my TL around last June or so from a friend. It had sat in his garage for a few years collecting dust bunnys and spiders. He and his family are into the trials thing here in So. Cal. with the American Trials Assoc. and the So. Cal. Trials Assoc. After camping with them a few times at events I figured this was a great way to spend a few weekends a year having fun. The ATA being a modern trials club I have no plans on being competitive with them. I joined for the camping and the great out-of-doors experience. I have also joined the AHRMA and will try to enter the event at Willow Springs this comming Apr. 2-4 weekend. Thanks for the good work on this web page. I will visit from time to time to check for new info. If any one finds a source for the side panel and tank stickers let me know. Feel free to E-Mail me and BS about the TL125's. Jeff.

I was surprised to see a web page for the TL125. The first bike that I owned was a 74 that I bought in 75. It was a very good bike for a beginner, forgiving, reliable, fun to ride. I've been thinking of finding one to play around on. In the mid 70's Cycle World Magazine did a build up series of articals on the TL125. Best I can remember they increased the engine to 175cc's with stock Honda parts, suspension upgrades and other things 20 years have robbed from memery. Again I was suprised to find this page but have enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

I bought my TL125 when I started off working as a lad at the age of 23 in Miri, Malaysia. Looking at the registration dated in 1969, I was the sixth owner (The bike is as old as me!!!). It was then certified road-worthy. The muffler had been modified though to use a generic cylindrical design. I had some problems with the engine about two years ago and since then I had left it in my storage as I do not have the time to attend to it. Now that I do and found this page and blokes who share the interest, I'll provide more details when it is up and running.
